look in your closet for design Inspo

Let me explain my theory. Before I begin with my explanation, take a sec and go look at your closet. Go ahead, I will wait….. Let me ask you some questions now that your back. How are your clothes organized in your closet? Are they even organized? Confession: My closet is never organized. I always have good intentions but usually I miss the mark. At least all my jeans are hung together.

Now lets pay attention to color. I know a lot of you are going to say “what color, I wear black” While this may be a true statement, I know in the back of your closet somewhere hiding behind the sea of black is some '“color”. Why is that piece of clothing still in your closet if all your wear is black?

I’m going to guess at some point in your life wearing that color made you feel good , otherwise it wouldn’t still take up space in your closet. Even if you wear a lot of black do you accessorize with color?

Consider your go to pieces. The shirt that you put on when you have nothing to wear. We all have favorites. Its ok to have favorite pieces of clothing. We aren’t talking about kids here. Sometimes our moods dictate what color we wear also. It plays a vital role in self expression.

Organized Chaos    Now that I have you thinking about the contents of your closet, let’s see how we can translate that to your home design. The colors you feel most confident in should be included in your home design. Why not come home to a space that is pleasing to your eyes? It’s like looking in the mirror and thinking “damn I look good!” Surrounding yourself with they very shades that you feel the best in can boost your spirits. I know what your thinking, I am not going to paint my walls chartruesse green. Most generally that is not a good idea. What I am suggesting is that you add accents of chartruesse green. Accessorize with a candle holder, a picture, pillow. You get the idea.  The color palette you choose is your choice. Even monotone shades can look fabulous. The trick is lots of texture. Below are 2 outfits I used as inspiration for designing a room.
