I Still remember napping on our gold velvet chesterfield sofa as a little girl
Hi I’m Shelly Groves of Carpe’ Design Group. Thanks for visiting my site. And reading this section. That means you want to know a few things about me. To begin with I was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. The biggest little town in the panhandle. I also lived in Ruridoso, New Mexico. The short time I lived there as a child has influenced my design style. I am drawn to southwest blankets and rugs. I like to add small touches to an eclectic design. I’m not a total diehard fan of southwest decor. Just small touches. I love the texture it can add.
I was raised in a house of DIYers. Our house was always a construction zone. Oddly it felt completely normal. I watched our home transform. Walls were taken down, kitchen was demolished and modernized. I loved being out in my dad’s shop watching and asking him questions.
Fast forward 25 years, I’m married to the most amazing man. (Wayne). He is my partner in crime or uh business. If I dream it he can build it! That’s how Carpe’ Design Group started. Out of the desire to have one of a kind pieces for our home. The need for more room to create led us to rent a warehouse. As projects were finished, I realized the need for decor to stage our creations.
I had a few vintage items that I used for decor and soon acquired more. It seriously has become an obsession. I love all things vintage. MY obsession has resulted with an Etsy Store. (Carpe’ Market) I want to share my treasures with others who would love them as much as I do.
Not only do I sell vintage items I incorporate them into my clients design style. I feel adding vintage pieces to your design makes a home feel more welcoming and lived in. Occasionally a client will own a vintage piece they want to incorporate in their design, which thrills me. Otherwise I will shop on Etsy, Chairish or local thrift stores, and estate sales.
Carpe’ Design Group has been a fantastic journey evolving and growing into what it is today. Every day is an opportunity to grown and learn more.
